One of the joys of moving to a new place (read: horrors!) is what to do with all the food we have on hand. During previous moves one of the following happened: 1. plan move way in advance and eat everything in the stockpile, 2. be a poor student so there never was a stockpile. This time around, we didn't really "plan in advance" the move, and I'd started getting into couponing. (Quick sidebar: I never did the hoarding part of couponing, but I did stock up on things that we used regularly when it was on sale.)
So, we are fully stocked on food and we are moving in just over a week. EEK!! As you can see, I have a standing freezer to go along with the unit on our fridge, plus we have our pantry and canning shelves to clear out. I was just over at the house we are moving into that our very dear friends are loaning us for about 6 weeks, and they only have the under-the-fridge unit. I'm not real worried about our pantry stuff, I can box that up. And the stager wants my canned goods to stay on the shelves. It's all that frozen stuff I'm worried about. How can we possibly get through it all in such a short period of time?! My best guess is that we'll be eating from there, morning, noon, and night until the move, and possibly giving some away to friends and family. Let's just say this hasn't ever been a problem I've had to deal with before, and I feel so blessed that it's a problem now. There are too many people in this world who don't have enough to eat, thankfully, even with our tight budget, our family isn't one of them.
